How to use these protocols
Surgery is teamwork between the surgeon, the patient, and the rehabilitation specialist. Following the right protocol is what determines whether your repair holds, your range of motion returns, and your shoulder regains strength.
- Download the protocol that matches your procedure
- Bring it to your first physical therapy visit (printed or on your phone)
- Your physical therapist follows the phase-by-phase progression on the document
- Questions can be directed to Dr. Gomoll's athletic trainer by calling the office at 646-917-7441

About shoulder surgery with Dr. Gomoll
The rotator cuff is the most important system of muscles and tendons for shoulder function. Dr. Gomoll repairs cuff tears arthroscopically through small portal incisions — avoiding open surgery and accelerating early recovery. Biceps tendon issues (impingement, instability, partial tearing) are addressed with tenodesis (anchoring the tendon at a new attachment) or tenotomy (releasing the tendon). Arthroscopic anterior stabilization treats recurrent shoulder dislocations.
